INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels slipped in a lighthearted joke about the Colts special teams while making good on his bet Tuesday to Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal.
Daniels released a picture of himself next to a New Orleans Saints flag outside his office in the state capitol. The picture was part of a bet Governor Daniels had with Governor Jindal regarding the outcome of the Super Bowl.
The picture accompanied a letter to Jindal in which Daniels joked he’ll be “demonstrating how to cover an onside kick” near where the Saints flag is posted.
The remark was apparently in reference to the botched onside kick recovery effort by Colts special teamer Hank Baskett to start the second half of the Super Bowl.
Daniels’ entire letter read,
“As in your state, here in Indiana, a deal is a deal. So I put the Saints flag you sent on display just outside my office, in the atrium of our beautiful state capitol, where visitors, employees and legislators will all get a good look at it.
For the next week, per our agreement, we'll keep it on display in the atrium, where, incidentally, each day I'll be demonstrating how to cover an onside kick.
Congratulations to the Saints on a well-played Super Bowl. Maybe we'll see you again in Dallas next year.”
